NO MORE REFEREE ABUSE

ISSA encourages all our referees to start carding any kind of descent, abuse or any type of aggressive behavior directed at our referees.

All players, coaches, team managers and or team captains are on notice that ISSA will not accept treating referees with disrespect, aggression, intimidation, abusive language, dissent or constant jabbering directed at referees.

Team captains are the only ones to address the referee and the only reason the team captain is able to communicate with the referee is so the ref can communicate to the captain that it is time to reign in a player or the team.

Ref Abuse No More

IDAHO STATE SOCCER ASSOCIATION ADDRESSES REFEREE ABUSE

Yes we have had trouble with getting referees.  There are several reasons why but the main one is the abuse they have to suffer working our adult games.  We have got to stop the abuse.  You have no right to take your lack of control or frustration out on the referee.  You don’t like the call – I do not care – live with it or just go away.

It is time we stop allowing players on the field or on the sideline arguing with the referees.  It must stop! ISSA is encouraging our referees to card any type of abuse and descent.  When the player has to sit out some games because they just cannot keep their mouth shut then good they will learn that it is not acceptable behavior.

These games are not professional games.  We do not fine you thousands of dollars but maybe we should if you want to act the fool.  You will be sanctioned for dissent and referee abuse. Just stop it now!

Referees are part of our social circle and oftentimes are players in our leagues.  We are all human and we all have bad days and make mistakes.  I have yet to find a player that does not screw something up in a game and probably more than one thing.  We live with that but for some reason, we cannot live with a referee messing up. There are referees that are new or have done few games.  They learn from the game the same as a player.  It is time we treat everyone with respect.

Everyone is on notice.  ISSA will not accept treating referees with disrespect, aggression, intimidation, abusive language, dissent, or constant jabbering.  The only person that has a right to address a referee is the team captain. And that does not mean the referee needs to take the time to answer your questions. The reason the team captain is able to communicate with the referee is so the ref can communicate to the captain that it is time for the captain to reign in a player or the team.
